M + O | Formals
Photography is incredible in the way it brings people together, or the way it allows you to experience new people, places, and things. But… nothing beats getting to photograph your sisters formals, to the guy who has been apart of your family (and pretty much your family…) since they were in high school. My sister Maci has had the exciting opportunity to be my little model for years, haha, and is just the easiest to photograph! Owen, on the other hand, hasn’t really experienced years of “fashion shoots”, although he is quite the little model himself.
When planning their first look and formals session, all Maci wanted was “green”. That was her one set choice. She didn’t care where the photos were taken, as long as everything was bright green. Luckily, my family discovered this hidden little gem of a location, affectionally referred to as “the cemetery”. My mom says we should change that title… but it’s just the easiest way to identify and remember it.
I am so in love with how these photographs turned out. I wish I would have captured them all on film, but we lost light pretty quickly (and I could have easily spent hundreds of dollars in film shooting these!). There’s a few tucked in there, though. They were scanned by Indie Film Lab.
Maci had the fun experience of changing into her gown in the middle of the woods, while my dad kept guard, Jake kept Owen distracted, and my mom and Bayli held up a blanket to hide her, haha. And then they got to have their “first look” while everyone watched. :)
Maci’s gown is from David’s Bridal, Florals are by Ceryl Curtis Design and her hair and makeup was done by Dani Daz (the most darling lady who I had the chance of taking her senior portraits years ago!)
Enjoy. <3
